With the improvement of people's material and cultural level, the demand for white marble art products is also growing. The white marble stone has the characteristics of fine texture tissue, solid, wear non-deformation, which bring to great difficulties to cutting. When cutting the White marble stone, the wear rate of traditional tool is larger and its processing efficiency is lower, which make the precision and surface quality difficult to guarantee. Although the machining effects of polycrystalline diamond cutters and diamond-coated cutters on this kind of material are much better than others, the costs of them are higher. In this paper, to achieve the purposes of high-precision, high-efficiency, low-cost, the CVD TiN coated tool is introduced in white marble stone cutting process.Based on plenty of papers about the information of breakage characteristics, the application status and trends of CVD coated tools in machining performance and removal characteristics has been summarized. The wear test of CVD coated tool machining white marble stone has been conducted, and the quality of the machined surface and the tool wear amount under different process parameters has been analyzed. Combined with orthogonal experiment method and uniform design, the impact of the surface roughness and tool wear amount under different process parameters has been obtained, and the optimal combination of process parameters has been gained. With the help of the Zeiss microscope, the after machining CVD coated tools damage morphology was observed. It summarized the main characteristics of white marble stone processing damage in CVD coated tools and analyzed the main causes of damage. Then numerical analysis software SPSS was applied to settle and calculate the wear test data, the correlation and regression analysis of spindle speed, cutting speed, cutting depth and tool wear has been obtained. The mathematical mode of CVD coated tool's single process parameter and abrasion loss and the empirical equation of the tool's service life have been established.Based on orthogonal design method, the wear test about PCD tool cutting white marble stone has been conducted. By wear tests of CVD coated tool and PCD tool, the cutting performances of them have been compared. Through comparative analysis, the results were obtained:the surface roughness and machining efficiency of CVD coated tool cutting white marble stone are much better than PCD tool; CVD coated tool is suitable for finishing, and PCD tool is only applicable for semi-finishing or roughing.
