Ultrasonic technology has prominent advantage in material processing; its application in engineering is more and more widely. Ultrasonic vibration for drilling is an important branch of ultrasonic technology; it combines the process characteristics between traditional drilling and ultrasonic vibration. Attaching ultrasonic vibration in drilling tools for processing can effectively improve the processing quality and reduce wear degree of bit. The development of ultrasonic torsional vibration drilling technology is on the basis of the traditionally one-dimensional ultrasonic drilling. It takes additional ultrasonic vibration from the axial direction of bit into the rotation orientation, overcoming the disadvantages of the traditional ultrasonic drilling, making the application of ultrasonic drilling technology more extensive in the field of processing and manufacturing, and can solve the difficult questions of one-dimensional ultrasonic drilling technology very well during drilling difficult machining materials, providing a good condition for difficult machining materials’drilling.On the base of looking up and studing a large number of domestic and foreign research results, this project aims at the research of ultrasonic torsional vibration with the piezoelectric effect. The main content of research is as follows.Firstly, consulting and stuying the principle and development of ultrasonic technology, and on this basis, detailly analysing theoretical basis, drilling method, research results and existing problems of the ultrasonic vibration drilling technology, to understand the purpose and meaning of the project’s research.Secondly, summarizing knowledge of the ultrasonic vibration drilling and drawing lessons from past research results, to propose the research thought of the topic and the methods of realizing ultrasonic torsional vibration to determine the ultrasonic torsional vibration system’s working mode.Thirdly, designing ultrasonic torsional vibration drilling system and making sure the components’ geometric shape, size and position for each other, finally assembling the whole system.Fourthly, building finite element model of the system and using ABAQUS on the system dynamics analysis, to get each order’s natural frequency and vibration model of the system. Analyzing influence produced by important positions which affect the system movement for system’s natural frequency and vibration mode. According to the results of analysis, establishing optimize design for previous system.Fifthly, establishing processing model of traditional way of drilling and ultrasonic torsional vibration drilling way in the ABAQUS; carrying on drilling in the form of simulation; comparing drilling effect for the two ways analyzed. Finally, summing up the difficult points and shortomings in the process of research and making prospects for the development of the ultrasonic torsional vibration drilling.
