With the rapid development of China's economy, the people's demand of mineral resources is also increasing. But due to the excessive mining of the mineral resources, resulting in the contradiction is more and more prominent between resource poor and demand increasing. As copper smelting power country, a large number of copper containing slag output in our country each year. The slag containing large amounts of valuable metals is a kind of important secondary resources. By studying high efficient recycling of the slag, not only a lot of valuable elements can be extracted and a good economic benefit is created, but also pollution can be reduced and environment can be protected.In order to eliminate the backward production ability, continuous converting furnace production process has been used instead of imperial smelting furnace process. Slag produced by the new process contains many valuable metals, which have recycling value.Process mineralogy research of copper containing slag of Hongtoushan smelter show that mineral composition is simple and less kinds of mineral exist. The major metal phases are copper sulfide, pure copper, coprous oxide, magnetite, lead oxide, non-metallic mineral phases are iron silicate and glassiness. The grain size distribution of copper oxide and pure copper is very uneven, the fine copper sulfide and pure copper are dispersively distributed in slag, and hard to liberate; the fine coprous which is encapsulated in rough particle copper sulfide can be recovered with copper sulfide. The common fine-grained copper sulfide is encapsulated in magnetite, or filled between magnetitie particles, which is hard to be completely liberated and cause copper loss easily.Taking copper slag which is cooled by extremely cool method as research object, through systematic mineral processing test research, the optimum beneficiation condition of copper containing slag is determined:grinding fineness(-0.074 mm) is 90%, the dosage of xanthate is 350 g/t, the dosage of frother 2# oil is 90 g/t, by adopting mineral processing test flowsheet of one stage rough, two stage cleaning and two stage scavenger, results of close circuit test is the grade of copper concentrate is 20.98%, recovery of Cu is 84.02%.On the basis of the experiment, the experimental study on beneficiation of copper containing slag was had on. The industrial test process and the corresponding index are determined:two stage with one closed circuit crushing, crushing product size is-14 mm; two closed stage circuit grinding, first stage grinding fineness(-0.074 mm) is 60%, second stage grinding fineness(-0.074 mm) is 95%; beneficiation flowsheet is one stage rough, four stage scavenger and two stage cleaning. The industrial test index reaches:the recovery of Cu is 87.65%, the Cu grade of concentrate is 15.26%, the grade of tailing is 0.51%.The study can provide a certain basis for recycle of Cu from Hongtoushan copper containing slag.
