The unidirectional long W fiber reinforced bulk metallic glass composites(BMGCs) became a research hotspot in a long time because of its high strength and plasticity and self-sharpening behavior. However, the anisotropy of the mechanical performance makes it shows outstanding performance only in the axial direction. In this paper, short W fiber with different diameter and different length reinforced Zr base BMGCs were prepared by melt infiltration method to investigate their different mechanical properties.Short W fiber/Zr base BMGCs, contain a same length and different diameter, 300?m, 500?m, 700?m and 1000?m respectively, were preparing to test its quasi static and dynamic mechanical properties. The results show that the yield strength of the four amorphous composites decreases with the increase of fiber diameter, while the plasticity and compressive strength decrease at first and then improve with the increase of fiber diameter. The composites with smaller short W fiber diameter possess larger dynamic deformation ability under high speed. The BMGCs with a fiber diameter of 300?m show the maximum compressive strength and plasticity after dynamic compression. In view of the foregoing results, The BMGCs with a fiber diameter of 300?mand fiber lengths of 600?m, 750?m, 900?m and 1050?m were prepared and the quasi-static and dynamic mechanical properties of these proposites were studied in detail. The results show that the strength and plasticity of four composites increase with the increase of fiber length in quasi static compression. For the same material, yield strength increases with increase of strain rate, while plastic and compressive strength decrease with increase of strain rate. The ability to withstand high-speed deformation of different W fiber lengths short fiber reinforced BMGCs is considerable after the dynamic compression. The compressive strength and plasticity of the BMGC with W fiber with fiber length of 1050?m reinforced Zr-based amorphous composites during dynamic compression.
