The Selective Laser Melting(SLM) technology was born in the early 90's last century, and as a rapid development of advanced manufacturing technology. The technology has the advantages of low energy consumption, high efficiency, short process, and province materials, etc. and has been an important research project of various countries.Firstly, by researching the hardware control and software of the SLM equipment,this dissertation explores the key part of the design idea and process of laser melting equipment, including the hardware system and software system; according to the requirements of the characteristics of SLM technology and precision, this dissertation designs for selective laser melting equipment. This equipment has the characteristics of high precision, stable operation and low cost, etc.Secondly, according to the characteristics of SLM and the structure of SLM machine, the overall direction of design can be determined by using the emerging open CNC system. The open CNC system is a kind of modularized, reconfigurable and extensible software and hardware control system, allows the users to design the hardware of the control system according to the need of control, and is very adaptive to the NC machine tool without unified control system.Finally, the control model of “PC+ the motion control card ” can be selected according to the analysis of the main mode of the open CNC system, the models of the hardware also will be determined based on this control mode, and hardware's construction can also be completed. This step is mainly based on the hardware manual to build the hardware; Meanwhile, the function of the software is designed based on the control requirements of the forming machine and the composition of the hardware,the function mainly includes controlling the equipment, processing the data and human computer interaction.
