Slope stability is the necessary premise and foundation for the safe and efficient production of open pit mine. Affected by the bad geological factors such as weak layer and fault, there are certain landslide hazards in she west slope of Baiyinhua No.2 open pit mine. With the development of stripping mining engineering, the height of the slope is increasing and the stability question is becoming more prominent. In this paper, based on the analysis of the geological conditions of the slope engineering, the weak layer and fault distribution of the west slope are made clear, and the physical and mechanical parameters of the rock and soil are determined combined with the principle of parameter inverse analysis; With four typical profiles as the object, using rigid body limit equilibrium method, the originally designed slope stability was evaluated, and by analyzing of the slope stability under the different conditions, the slope parameters are optimally designed. The finite difference method is applied to simulate the slope stability of original design and that after optimal designation. The reliability of the calculation results of rigid body limit equilibrium method is verified further, and the landslide mechanism is revealed.Research results can provide some guidance for stripping and mining project design, safety construction and slope management of Baiyinhua No.2 open pit mine, and also has certain reference significance for slope stability studies carried out under similar conditions.
