High speed milling has become a main stream processing technology of automobile panel hardened steel die, and the surface basically determines the final use of the working state. But current researches are limitted in the original field. Researchers engaging in metal cutting explore the processing conditions in practice, hope to improve the machined surface quality of the parts, but for the material forming processing, researchers only concerned the parts forming quality, while the researchers engaging in material forming only care about the quality of the forming parts. But what kind of service performance and surface state should have and how to get them in the machined surface formed in high speed milling of hardened steel are worth our in-depth study and exploration. This paper is supported by the National Natural Science Fund Project “High speed milling of hardened steel surface mesostructure characterization and damage evolution mechanism(51205096)”. Changes in service are analyzed for the machined surface of high speed milling hardened steel, the main research contents are as follows:For the issues of surface quality in the process of high-speed milling, In this work, it conducted the test of surface formation of hardened steel die, and analyzed the influences of cutting parameters on roughness, hardness and metamorphic layers on machined surface. The conclusions showed the axial depth of cutting was the main factor, which affected layer thickness and micro cracks generated on the plastic deformation layer after processing. To research the influence regularity of surface morphology on service performance, it simulated the experiment of U-brake-forming. And the influence regularity of surface generation parameters fz and ae on service performance of hardened steel die were obtained: feed rate has a great impact on the wear properties and die processed with smaller feed rate has a longer wear life while row ledge has a great impact on the fatigue properties and die processed with wider row ledge has a longer life. For the problem that high-speed milling of hardened steel surface quality impact on service performance, it carried out experimental of stamping and combined with test die surface quality of the specimen after the analysis of organizational form. The result indicated that after the stamping die surface, metamorphic layer thickness was increased. The more thickness changed, the poor service performance was. Different milling parameters of die surface after serving metamorphic layer thickness change value is different. The greater the thickness changed, the worse service performance was.
