Depth of exploitation of oil and gas resources became deeper when Global oil and gas energy consumption became bigger. More deep oil wells and ultra-deep oil well have been constructed in Xinjiang Changqing Yumen Qinghai in China and there are many reports and information abroad. So standard drill pipe cannot meet the requirements of drilling deep and ultra-deep oil well.Matching of strength and toughness is key problem for researcher of pipe manufacture around world due to contradiction between strength and toughness in low alloy steel. Lower temperature and shorter time of tempering can get high strength but toughness will be lost. Higher temperature and longer time of tempering can get good toughness but strength will be lost.The group had done many researches on design of material and process of steel making and pipe rolling and heat treatment and upsetting and friction welding of drill pipe. The result of inspection of drill pipe shows that the S135 drill pipe completely conform to specifications and additional requirements of client.
