Content of SBS added in modified asphalt is critical to the performance of the SBS modified asphalt.At present,routine testing of asphalt still unable to detect the SBS content of modified asphalt accurately.By combining the performance of different SBS content modified asphalt,explore the relationship between the SBS content and the performance of aging asphalt,put forward a method which can detect the content of SBS,and analysis the characteristics of aging asphalt based on Infrared spectroscopy.Two different brands of QiaoPai and Bao Li SBS modified asphalt were detected by routine tests and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.The results illustrated that penetration index,softening point,ductility and PG grade of asphalt were improved after incorporated SBS modifier.After RTFO aging test,penetration index and ductility of different SBS contents modified asphalt were decreased,and the higher SBS content,the more decline extent.When the SBS content was less than 4%,the PG grade of asphalt was less than 76?.The absorbance peaks at 967cm-1 and 1377cm-1 could be used as the characteristic peaks for SBS modifier and asphalt.The ratio of the area of characteristic peaks at 967cm-1 and the sum of the area of characteristic peaks at 967cm-1 and 1377cm-1?S967/?S967+S1377??had a good stability,S967/?S967+S1377?presents excellent linear relationship with SBS content,the standard curve made the test results accurate to 98.98%,which makes the SBS content of SBS modified asphalt can be measured rapid and accurately.Absorbance peaks of carbonyl were appeared at the range of 1650cm-1 to 1700cm-1 in the asphalt spectrum after aging,and accompanied the declined of absorbance peak at 967cm-1,which indicated oxygen reaction was mainly occurred during the aging process,and accompanied by the fracture of carbon-carbon double bond.The decreased of deformation capacity and the increased of viscosity were major characteristic of aging asphalt.
