It is one of the most important and difficult issues of sanitary enterprises to polish profiled work-piece such as faucet. In order to solve distress situation that China is short of automation polishing equipment, a kind of automatic faucet polishing scrub machine was designed in this paper. The process of polishing faucets was. analyzed, in which faucet polishing process was divided into a three-step process. The polishing method under constant pressure was proposed and a multi-position CNC polishing machine was designed to realize the automatic faucet polishing.In order to design multi-CNC polishing machine, the surface characteristics of the faucet was analyzed and the whole process was divided into three polishing steps. So the work platform was divided into three working stations and the three polishing steps could be realized while the faucet was fixed in the above three working stations respectively. The multi-CNC polishing machine was divided into three systems including mechanical structure, electrical control system and software control systems. The mechanical structure includes the fixture,the belt polishing machine,the coordinate movement table and the auxiliary facilities. A pressure sensor was mounted in the belt polishing machine to measure the polishing pressure and to ensure the constant polishing pressure. Electrical control system includes power supply system, controlling panel, data input and data output control system. The modularized controller was used in multi-CNC polishing machine and the suitable electrical components was selected to assemble the electrical cabinet. The electronic control system software was programmed by using C++ and Qt to achieve the machine motion control and the coordinate data collection, which also could realized motion track generation and the data storage.In order to verify the actual function of multi-CNC polishing machine, the I/O point test experiments, the hand-wheel teach running experiments, the automatically running experiments and the orthogonal experiments were done respectively. In the I/ O point test experiments, the electrical system was debugged,the various components of the system and wiring were tested, whose results indicates the designed I/O system is working in normal station. The hand-wheel teach running experiments results verifies the program input device is working in normal station. The automatically running experiments results verifies that the equipment trajectory is working in normal station. The influence of polishing pressure and speed of the belt polishing machine was studied in the orthogonal experiments, in which the optimal belt speed and pressure parameters are determined respectively to 40N and 1500r/min.
