The rapid development of the economy, the sharp rise in population, the excessive and irrational development and utilization of nature lead to gradual loss of natural resources as well as the disappearance of natural landscape. In recent years, because of the revenge from the nature, adequate attention has been given to the concept of the harmonious development of men and nature. People began to realize that for the sake of immediate economic benefits exploiting wetland by extreme measures should be forbidden, but should pay attention to the long-term ecological and social benefits in the nature as a whole. Restoring degraded wetland ecosystem, becoming a hot research field of, has attracted serious concern. The restoration of wetland always involves different academic field, such as environment, ecology, chemistry, physis, biology and so on, because of the comprehensiveness. Each natural wetland possesses unique landscape and resources due to site conditions, change of sorrounding environment. Therefore, unpredictable issues and challenges will be existing with the study and practice for wetland ecosystem restoration. The restoration and renovation of Qilihai wetland was proposed in this background. As the world's three ancient coastal wetlands, its evolution and natural resources are unique. The study of it is only a handful. Over the past few decades, the increasingly unfavorable natural factors and strongly interference from human have resulted in damage to Qilihai Wetland. In this paper, practical ways of landscape as well as ecological restoration for degraded Qilihai wetland will be explored based on the practical project. Here comes the current main problems which cause the degradation of Qilihai wetland: shrinking natural area, sameness of landscape, damage of flora and fauna, deterioration of water depanding on the fieldwork of Qilihai Wetland, data collection, the analysis and evaluation of the status quo. Recovery objectives and strategies will be proposed regarded the core area of Qilihai Wetland as main target according to the features. Meanwhile, research would be doing and appropriate technical solution should be found since ther are two major problems, habitat restoration and plant community restoration, which have to be solved based on the status quo situation and the practical project. The theory and technology can guide the design of practical project, while the design is able to test the feasibility of the theory and techniques. This paper is divided into five sections:Section 1: Explanation to the global background and related concepts of wetland research, generally summarize and analysis of the research status. Meanwhile show the scope, content and research methods applied in this paper, which laid the foundation for the later study.Section 2: Elaborated on concepts and principles related to wetland degradation and restoration, analysis of two successful cases are the support of the theory and the reference.Section 3: The analysis and discussion of Qilihai wetland status quo as well as the surrounding conditions based on massive data of historical information, which is the prerequisite for the analysis of specific issues.Section 4: Summarize the main issues, and analyze the causes of these problems for the study of the core area of Qilihai wetland.Section 5: As the main part of this study, further principles and methods are explored for the restoration of Qilihai wetland core area based on practical project. In particular, natural repair and artificial methods in ecological restoration are combined in order to propose specific technical measures and design methods in the recovery for habitat restoration and plant communities. Some related verification and evaluation would be implemented on the final design.Section 6: Summarize the conclusion of this research, the design program and the deficiencies of this paper for reflection based on analysis of the previous section.
