Tribological tests of PEEK450CA30,which is short for 30% carbon fiber reinforced PEEK composites,and PEEK450GF30,which is short for 30% glass fiber reinforced PEEK composites,and PEEK450FC30,which is short for 10% carbon fiber and 10% graphite and 10% PTFE blending reinforced PEEK composites,rings with high Cr-containing alloy blocks and Stellite alloy blocks at varying loads of 50-500N were carried out using a block-on-ring apparatus at 2m/s sliding speed for 10h under water lubrication.Surface roughness of PEEK composites before and after friction and the wear contour of alloy blocks after friction were measured by the surface contour.The specific wear rate were calculated and analyzed.When the counterpart alloy blocks were high Cr-containing alloy,there were not much differences between the friction coefficient of PEEK450CA30 and PEEK450FC30.They were larger than that of PEEK450GF30's under lower loads and smaller than that of PEEK450GF30's under higher loads.The specific wear rates of PEEK450CA30 and PEEK450FC30 were not much difference,while they were lower than that of PEEK450GF30's.The specific wear rates of high Cr-containing alloy countered with PEEK450CA30 and PEEK450FC30 were not much difference,while they were lower than that of countered with PEEK450GF30.When the counterpart alloy blocks were stellite alloy,there were not much differences between the friction coefficient of PEEK450CA30 and PEEK450FC30,while they were larger than that of PEEK450GF30's.Under lower loads,the specific wear rate of PEEK450CA30's is the highest,while the specific wear rate of PEEK450GF30's is higher than that of PEEK450FC30's.Under higher loads,there were not much differences between the specific wear rate of PEEK450CA30 and PEEK450FC30,but they were all smaller than that of PEEK450GF30's.The specific wear rates of stellite alloy countered with PEEK450CA30 and PEEK450FC30 were not much difference,while they were lower than that of countered with PEEK450GF30.In summary, friction coefficients of PEEK composites when countered with stellite alloy were lower than that of countered with high Cr-containing alloy.The specific wear rates of PEEK450CA30 and PEEK450FC30 when countered with high Cr-containing alloy were lower than that when countered with stellite alloy.The specific wear rate of PEEK450GF30 when countered with high Cr-containing alloy were higher than that when countered with stellite alloy.
