LPG is being paid more and more attention by all walks of life as a kind of environmental-protection and efficient fuel. LPG has a rich reserve and be used in chemical industry or people's life widely. LPG is produced in the process of oil preparation or exploitation. So almost all of the energy companies will produce LPG. The demand for liquefied petroleum gas in our country is increasing day by day with the rapid development of economy and the promotion of import and export trade. Meanwhile, LPG leakage has caused serious accidents. Currently the gas leakage monitoring used by LPG storage and distribution libraries is a catalytic-combustion monitor with point distribution. But the catalytic-combustion monitor has limited precision and long corresponding time. In this paper, in order to compensate the shorting of catalytic-combustion monitor, the laser sensor with high sensitivity is used to monitoring the LPG tank for micro leakage all-directionally and distributed, based on the result of LPG leakage diffusion and the cause of LPG leakage. Using pan-tilt with high performance reduce the quantity of laser sensor and also monitor the LPG tank stereoscopically. In this paper, the primary contents are as follows:(1). Due to the characteristics of LPG storage and distribution libraries leakage accident causing great damage, this paper analyses and summarizes the reason of LPG storage tank leakage in daily operation, and simulates the diffusion of mainly leakage reason. This paper also analyses the influence of wind speed, leakage intensity and leakage direction on the range of leakage diffusion.(2). To compensate the shortage of traditional monitor method, this paper offer a new plan using the laser sensor to monitor the LPG tank all-directionally and distributed by comparing the corresponding time of laser sensor and traditional monitor. Using DOW's method evaluating the safety of LPG tank.(3). Using the high-performance pan-tilt monitor the LPG tank stereoscopically. This paper programs a software which controls pan-tilt-laser senor monitor. The software can control the movement of the pan-tilt and the data reading of the laser sensor. It can display the concentration-time curve and instant concentration value for each monitor point. The software can also export the data as a text document for analyzing in the future.
