The arillus of sapindus has a large number of saponins which are mainly oleanolic acid saponins. and are called the total sapindus-saponins. sapindus-saponin is a natural non-ionic surfactant which has good biological activities such as sterilization, anti-tumor and it can be widely used in bio-medicine, daily chemical industry. In this paper, the arillus of sapindus was used as experimental materials to prepare sapindus-saponins. It discussed the separation and purification of saponins and its application in heavy metal wastewater. The results were shown as follows.(1) Infrared spectra, TLC, Libermann-Buehard, hemolysis and bubble expriments were adopted to analyze sapindus-saponin. Oleanolic acid was chose as standard and the purity of sapindus-saponin were calculated to more than 89.2%. The liner regression equation at a range of 150ug/mL?350ug/mL was Y=0.4414x+0.0317, R=0.9994, which showed a good linear relationship and could be used as standard curve of sapindus-saponin.(2) Discussed the influence of reaction temperature, reaction time, solid-liquid ratio, extraction times and ethanol concentration to sapindus-saponin extraction and optimized the purification process of AB-8 macroporous resin dynamic adsorption. The optimum conditions: sapindus-saponin whose volume, concentration and PH is 400mL.30mg/mL and 5. passed 20g AB-8 macroporous resin at a flow rate of 3mL/min in adsorption phase. Then,80% ethanol solution eluted AB-8 macroporous resin at a flow rate of 1mL/min in desorption phase. The result was that adsorption capacity for the resin was 572mg/g dry resin, elution rate of saponin was 82.51% and purity of saponin was 86.16%.(3) Discussed the elution performance of sapindus-saponin to heavy metals by simulating heavy metal wastewater in the laboratory. In the solution of 100mL containing Pb2+, Cu2+, Mn2+ and Cd2+ heavy metal wastewater, The elution rate of sapindus-saponin to heavy metals was 97.32%,98.23%,99.18% and 98.64%; The remaining concentrations of heavy metal ion is 0.242mg/L,0.421mg/L,0.073mg/L and 0.186mg/L and experiments demonstrated that they have reached the emission standards of nation.
