Walnut planting is an important part of Xinjiang agricultural. To develop walnut industry has to develop deep processing of walnut; one of the key technologies is taking walnut shell. Now the walnut shell processing equipment have been able to solve the problem of walnut classification, walnut shell and shell kernel separation, but there are many unsolved walnuts after first breaking, which can not be separated and impact on shell kernel separation. In order to ensure the integrity of walnut meat and raise the ability of processing unsolved walnut. The paper combine with the existing walnut processing equipment and through the study on mechanical properties of walnut, putting forward the principle of fence type walnut secondary breaking machine, then designing and producing the machine, which making up for the defect of first breaking.This paper introduces the successful walnut shell processing equipment, analyzing its characteristic and defect. Determining the location of the secondary breaking machine on the basis of the pneumatic walnut shell production line. Then determining its plan from the theoretical analysis, such as measuring the walnut size, carrying out extrusion experiment, which measuring its breaking force and deformation,determining the reserved clearance of breaking. Then building walnut model, analyzing the stress and strain,simulating the principle of extrusion and rub to verify its feasibility, providing the basis for subsequent mechanism design.This paper also based on the principle of extrusion and rub to expounds the structure of machine and the design of components, such as the part of roller and fences. Thinking about the position of conveyor belt and the separator, we are determine the roller diameter and wind the spiral conveyer on the outer surface. At the same time, according to the required breaking space between the fence and the cylinder, we are define the diameter of the fence. Then carry out the finite element analysis on the fence and spring to get its stiffness. Finally, testing the breaking effect of the parameter optimization, selecting the roller speed,drum length, the feeding as three factors and breaking shell rate, large kernel rate as the indicators, getting the optimal combination through orthogonal test. In order to clearing the influence of various factors on breaking shell rate and large kernel rate, we finding the test factors and the function relation between different test indexes, doing the quadratic regression test and obtaining the optimal parameters.
