With the rapid development of manufacturing industry, the application of machine center is increasingly extensive. Automatic tool changer (ATC) is the basic conditions that guarantee multi-operation and centralized machining of machining center, a globoidal cam is a key components of the ATC and it is quite difficult to processing and manufacturing a globoidal cam. Aiming at the status qua that the unstable quality of a globoidal cam in grinding, the high precision of cam shape line and grinding wheel wear fast, it is of great significance to do research on the processing technology of a globoidal cam groove grinding.The paper explores the variables like grinding wheel and different process parameters influence the grinding force, the surface quality and the specific grinding energy by machining precisely for the globoidal cam, digital machining simulation and designing imitating groove molding grind. The main research work of the paper is as follows:(1) It summarizes the development of the globoidal cam, the establishment and modeling of profile surface equation, introduces the methods of the globoidal cam machining at home and abroad, especially emphasises the twofold envelope method (grinding wheel planetary motion).This paper also makes a contrast the different structures of groove process and summarizes the current research situation of globoidal cam and the problem of grooving process.(2) It uses the Creo to make a precise modeling for the ATC, and imports the model into the Adams to make a processing simulated analysis and test.(3) It analyzes work steps of five-axis grinding the globoidal cam, formulates the experimental scheme based on 200 m/s ultra-high speed precise grinding test bench in the laboratory, convert field processing grinding parameters to equivalent grinding parameters of the flat grinder, adopt the vitrified bonded CBN grinding wheel to make 20CrMnTi bilateral groove grinding cement deep grooves experiments, and get the key step grinding work experimental parameters of grinding.(4) To study the effect law of grinding force and specific grinding energy in grinding. By observing and analysing test results summary of workpiece surface topography and roughness, the micro structure of surface after grinding, it get the conclusion that factory existing grinding process efficiency is on the low side and grinding efficiency can be increased for different deep groove grinding work step.It comprehensively evaluates the low roughness and no burns grinding process. Thus it can provide a theoretical basis and reference for selection of the grinding wheel and dressing parameters in the processing of the globoidal cam.
