Forging manipulator is an essential auxiliary equipment of forging hydraulic press and a basic equipment for producing heavy forgings. As the executive component of the forging manipulator, the clamping device is the basic guarantee for realizing the clamping function.The griping jaw is the only part which contact with forgings directly, and reasonable design of the griping jaw's structure is the key of clamping capacity of the clip clamping device and the design of other structures.According to the analysis model of clamping force of jaws, the length of the jaw, the center distance of the jaw's clamping gripper, the diameter of the forgings, the friction factor between the jaw and the forgings and the effect of teeth surface structure on the clamping force was analyzed in this thesis. Though studied the types and characters of the workpiece and the process of forging, method of ascertaining the length of jaw by riser distance of ingots is proposed. Analyzed the influence of forgings diameter on clamping force and studied the method of determining the minimum diameter of forgings. Based on the real working condition of the forging manipulator clamping the hot parts, the M-200 abrasion testing machine was improved by using jaw materials ZG310-570 and HT350 combined with other forging materials as friction pairs. The friction coefficient of each friction pairs and the changes of those coefficients in process of cooling samples were tested.The experimental results showed that the friction coefficient of the friction pairs of ZG310-570 is smaller than HT350, and the friction coefficient increased with cooling the samples. To choose the friction coefficient between jaw and hot samples should base on the friction coefficient of the hot samples at high temperature in the design of clamping apparatus. Considering the influence of the teeth surface structure of the jaw on clamping force, the equivalent friction coefficient is used to show hindering effect of the teeth surface structure to forgings and the friction coefficient between the jaw and forgings was equaled based on the extruding strength. In this thesis, an entire structure design of the jaw is proposed by utilizing the analysis method of jaw structure and the research ideas of Structure optimization with minimum weight while the jaw meets the strength conditions is defined.This method is used to optimize the design of jaw structure of 30 t forging manipulator and analyze the superiority of the design by contrast with the existed jaw.
