Saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons such as ethylene and propylene are important chemical intermediate. They are essentially important for synthesis of chemical and industrial process. Separation of olefins from olefins/paraffin mixture carried out using several kinds of technologies. Cryogenic distillation for separation of olefins is not easy to achieve because of component's similar size and volatility. Large operating and capital cost are associated with this process. The reactive absorption using transition metal and olefins n-complexation, which has proved to be an ideal alternative for cryogenic distillation because of its high absorption rates, large ethylene capacity, high selectivity for gases and low operating cost. The organic solvents having volatility loss, environmental pollution and other draw backs have been compensated using Ionic liquids which process some unique properties, low volatility, highly thermally stable, negligible vapor pressure etc. However, Ionic liquids have more viscosities which caused the more cost for the synthesis of ionic liquids. A new approached have been applied to make the ILs for ethylene and ethane absorption by making a blind or mixture of ionic liquids and some organic solvents. In this desertion design of isochoric gas absorption technique to observe solubility of ethylene/ethane by copper based ionic liquids having imidazolium cations and NMP (N, methyl pyrrolidone) was used as a co solvent.Six type of ionic liquids containing different cuprous chloride and cuprous bromide concentration have been prepared i.e. ClCuCl(1.0 M,1.5 M 2.0 M) and [Bmim]Br Cu Br (1.0 M,1.5 M,2.0 M),also NMP and ionic liquid mixture using 20 weight percentage with ionic liquids were used to investigate the solubility of C2H4 and C2H6 at 0.2-0.8 MPa, three different temperatures from (298k,303k and 313 k) and in these ionic liquids and ionic liquids co solvent system.Cuprous salt can be easily dissolved in these ionic liquids, ethylene/ethane mixture separation took place by reversible chemical complexation mechanism, as Cu (I) can form ti bond complexation with C2H4.The repercussion of temperature, Pressure cuprous salt contents on the absorptivity of gases was also observed. It was illustrated from the experimental findings that imidazolium ionic liquids with cuprous salts showed higher efficiency for the separation of C2H4 and C2H6.At temperature of 298 K and pressure 0.1-0.8 Mpa. Solubility and selectivity of ethylene was 0.735 mol/L,11.25 for 2.0 M [Bmim]Br CuBr and NMP, for [Bmim]BrCuBr 0.6488 mol/L selectivity 10.554.The ethylene absorption capacity and selectivity for using these ionic liquids and co solvent order[Bmim]BrCuBr+NMP>[Bmim]BrCuBr>[BMIM]ClCuCl+NMP>[BMIM] Cl-CuCl.The ethylene solubility was increased by temperature reduction and enhanced by the increment in pressure and cuprous salt concentration.
