Copper-graphite composite has the ideal self-lubricating properties, so it is often used to fabricate. The self-lubricating bearings, made of which can be widely used in metallurgical continuous machine, rolling equipment, mining machine, shipping, steam turbine, water turbine, injection machine, equipment production lines and so on. The self-lubricating bearing is usually prepared by macroscopic combination methods in mosaic way, which preparing self-lubricating bearing has some problems, such as, complex processes, large energy consumption, poor product density and comprehensive mechanical properties. In this article, use the semi-solid casting technology to prepare the copper-graphite composite, and then study the conventional casting structure organization and wear properties. The main contents are as follow:(1) Use the semi-solid casting technology to prepare the copper-graphite composite whose microstructure is uniform. The optimum process parameters are as follows:adding powder at 1080℃, stirring with the temperature decreases to 1043℃, stirring 15 minutes, forming at 1043℃.(2) Study the graphite content, graphite surface plating treatment on the effect to the composite mechanical properties and wear performances. The results show that nickel coated graphite can improve the interfacial strength between copper and graphite, and also the mechanical properties. Especially, compared with doping the graphite, doping the 6vol.% nickel plating graphite with can increase the composite hardness by 8.94%. Antifriction properties are also improved. With the microstructure of wear surface and the wear rate, study the tribological characteristics and the self-lubricating mechanism of the composite.(3) Develop the vertical and continuous casting equipment, and then use the equipment to carry on commissioning experiments. The optimum drawing speed is 80mm/min, the temperature is 700 ℃, and cooling water flow rate is 0.1m3/h, which can get the sample successfully.The result shows that the semi-solid casting technology is a potential process which can make the graphite particles uniformly distributed in the copper-graphite composite. And the semi-solid stirring casting technology has great application prospect as a liquid phase preparation method for composite that the density is very different.
