In a mild condition, thiol-ene/yne click chemistry could be conducted in specific areas and groups combining various synthetic methods. A synthetic method of high selectivity, yield rate and throughput has been developed. Surface thiol-functional microsphere could achieve multi function by thiol-ene/yne click chemistry. Also, thiols have high binding energy to silver, thiol-functional microsphere could be applied to prepare polymer/AgNP composite microsphere. Thus, reseachers focus on developing a faciel way towards thiol-functional microsphere.Herein, we report the preparation of polymer/AgNP composite microsphere by in-sito reduction utilizing surface thiol-functional polymer microsphere by continuously three-step dispersion polymerization involving click chemistry. First, thiol groups on the surface of polymer microsphere are realized by thiol-ene/yne click between feeding thiols and remaining alkene/alkyne groups on the surface of the core-shell microsphere by two-step dispersion polymerization. By controlling the total amounts and the mole ratio of two crosslinking agents, core-shell polymer microsphere with different remaining alkene/alkyne groups on the surface was prepared. Polymer microsphere with different remaining thiols on the surface was prepared by feeding different amounts/kinds of thiols, also different adding time. Furthermore, silver nitrate was reduced and grown to nanoparticles with the diameter of 100nm onto the surface thiol-functional polymer microsphere in ethylene glycol. The amount of silver nanoparticles of composite microsphere varies using polymer microsphere with different thiols on the surface. Also, explore the application of polymer/silver nanoparticles composite microsphere as catalysts for the degradation of methylene blue by NaBH4.Moreover, functional polymer microsphere was synthesized by click polymerization in dispersion polymerization. Click polymerization in of PMA/PETMP was achieved at suitable amount with TEA as catalyst. Thiol-ene/yne click polymerization occurred at the interface of PS microsphere and solvent, thus functional polymer microsphere was prepared. Click polymerization in dispersion polymerization, the combination of chain-growth polymerization and step-growth polymerization developed a new method of modification of functional microsphere.
