The C5 fractions are cracked from ethylene unit's side products, which contain large amount of olefins with highly chemical utilization value and enable the development of C5 fractions receiving much attentions. With the method of extractive distillation, isoprene of high purity could be acquired. This paper accomplished the whole facility process flow design on the premise that ACN was the solvent and reasonable process routing was selected against the components of cracked C5 fractions. The main work of this paper is as follows:The process theory of C5 separation facility is discussed, including the introductions of ordinary distillation, extractive distillation, thermal dimerization reaction and anti-polymerization reaction. Combined with mature experiences of foreign and domestic C5 fraction separation facility, the reasonable technical routes and general process flow are designed according to the components of cracked C5 raw material, products specifications, solvent specifications and the supporting of utilities. The professional process flow simulation software PRO ? is used for the whole flow simulating. Through the study of simulating results and the comparison with experimental data, the satisfactory uniformities are embodied which demonstrate the models were set up correctly and reliably. The general plane layout, equipment specification selection, control methodology design and energy optimization routes are described in the engineering design for the facility.
