In recent years, superhydrophobic materials have attracted significant attention all over the world based on their unique properties. Superhydrophobic materials are expected to be applied in the field of nuclear environment,self-cleaning,anti-icing,anti-bacteria as functional surface protective materials. But recent superhydrophobic materials still have the disadvantages of poor mechanical stability, high cost and environmental damage. In addition, fluorine chemicals were used to realize superhydrophobic materials for their low surface energy. However, fluorinated materials are not eco-friendly and very expensive. Therefore non-fluorinated materials are highly desired in the process of preparing super hydrophobic materials. In view of these, we have done the following three works:1. By modifying the surface of sand with silane, the superhydrophobic sand was obtained. The preparation process is simple and easy to implement, and the cost is relatively low. The obtained superhydrophobic material can be used for oil/water separation. After a number of oil/water separation process, the superhydrophobic material still had very good selectivity and high separation efficiency. Therefore, this material has great potential and advantages in practical application of oil-water separation.2. Three sizes of silica particles were used to build the rough structure of the coating. Propyltriethoxysilane was added for the modification of silica particles and reduce the surface energy. The silicon hydroxyl group in the coating can be further reduced by the catalysis of acid and alkali to increase the mechanical propertiesof the coating. The experimental results show that the coating by the catalysis of alkali has good mechanical properties and corrosion resistant performance.3. Silica gel with a certain viscosity was prepared by sol-gel method using TEOS as raw material under acidic conditions. We used the gel as the nano silica particles to construct the surface roughness of the coating. Propyltriethoxysilane was grafted onto silica surface to reduce the surface energy. These two materials make the coating have superhydrophobic properties. At the same time, the coating has a goodtransparency and mechanical properties. The multifunctional superhydrophobic materials obviously make the coating have a greater range of applications.
