S32101 dual phase stainless steel in the AP1000 third generation nuclear power plant is mainly used in the structure of the product. Its application area is a relatively harsh environment in the nuclear power plant. It is required to store a large number of strong corrosive solution, and these regions within the AP1000 nuclear power plant 60 years of life cycle cannot be replaced. Its safe operation directly affects the normal operation and safety of the reactor system. Therefore, the container material must have excellent mechanical properties and strong corrosion resistance.In this paper, the different welding processes between duplex stainless steel and duplex stainless steel, between duplex steel and austenitic stainless steel, between duplex stainless steel and carbon steel, between duplex stainless steel and low alloy steel were systematically studied. The welding characteristics of S32101 duplex stainless steel and dissimilar materials of S32101 welding were analyzed systematically and optimized the welding procedure. The results show that the tensile test results of the weld metal and heat affected zone are more than the specified value, the bending test and the impact test results are qualified, which indicate that the optimized welding process can meet the requirements of the welding production of nuclear key parts. In addition to mechanical properties, the microstructure and ferrite content of all welded joints were tested, and the results showed that the content of ?and?phase in both the weld and heat affected zone were about 50%, the ratio of ferrite and austenite was reasonable. It indicates that the weld joints have excellent mechanical properties and good decay resistance at the same time. The ferrite content can meet the requirements.In this paper, the welding properties of S32101 duplex stainless steel and dissimilar materials were analyzed in detail. From the chemical composition and mechanical properties and welding technology, the application of this material in AP1000 nuclear power station was studied. The optimum process parameters were determined by multiple tests and the performance of the joint was detected by many kinds of analytical methods, and acquired superb quality of the weld joint.The corrosion resistance test of the joints of S32101 dual phase stainless steel with S32101 dual phase stainless steel by immersion method is also mentioned in this paper. The corrosion resistance test of S32101 welded joints indicates that the specimen welding electrode is E2209-16 stainless steel, the electrode's welding metal containing 40%~50% ferrite, with a reliable resistance to chloride corrosion and higher corrosion resistance, and it improves the corrosion resistance of the weld. What's more, with the increase of the ambient temperature, the corrosion rate is increased, which shows that the temperature has a great effect on the corrosion resistance of the duplex stainless steel in the medium.The actual application in the AP1000 nuclear power construction process of S32101 welding, and the detection results show that the welding procedure of S32101 duplex stainless steel can meet the requirements of procedure qualification, and the quality is within the scope of the relevant quality specifications.
