Utilized alternate arrangement of knit loop and tuck loop, pique fabrics can be divided into single pique and lacoste. Compared with the plain-knitted fabrics, single-jersey pique fabrics with tuck loop are thicker and narrower in lateral dimension, which can be formed into sprang appearance. What is more, with the higher moisture absorption and permeability, single-jersey pique fabrics are widely used for T-shirts and sportswear. 1n this paper, 18.2tex and 27.8tex of 100% cotton yarns were used to knit single pique,lacoste and single jersey knitted fabrics with different stitch lengths to study on dimensional stability of these fabrics. Run-in ratio of single pique was designed as 0.8-0.9to make it more concave-convex. Dimensional stability to washing, tensile property and dimensional stability after boiling off were studied in the paper. After four-time fully relaxed process of washing--tumble drying, dimension stability, washing shrinkage and the relationship among wale density, course density and weight of grey fabrics were analyzed. At the same time, different drying methods like tumble dry, lateral hang and vertical hang were used to study on dimensional change of fabrics in different dry condition. What's more, the structure of tuck loop was analyzed to study on dimensional stability of single-jersey pique fabrics. The study found that before or after washing,parameters of fabric loop lengths were linearly related to parameters of fabric density and weight. Fabric density and weight decreased with increasing of fabric loop lengths. The tuck loop had an effect on the dimensional stability of the single-jersey pique fabric.Besides, tensile properties of single-jersey pique fabrics were tested in the paper to study on dimensional variation degree after fabrics went through dyeing machine and setter.The experiment methods of one time and multiple specified elongation were used to test dimensional recovery rate and residual recovery rate of fabrics along course and wale direction. Fabric deformation characteristics under repeated tensile load were studied and found the value of slow-elastic deformation was low. Loop length made little difference on the deformation under repeated tensile load in the range of small deformation. The paper studied on dimensional characteristics of single-jersey pique fabrics to provide a reference for production of single-jersey pique fabrics and help knitting corporation make reasonable manufacturing technique of gray fabrics. Besides, it can lay the foundation for improving dimensional stability and intrinsic quality of single-jersey pique fabrics.
