Schiff base is a class of organic compounds that with imide group or methylene amine groups. Its nitrogen atoms of hybrid orbital is easy to form coordinate bond with metal ions, the conjugated structure and metal ions make it has conduct capacity. According to the Hugan-Rubens approximate theory, that is to say the Schiff bases with higher electrical conductivity may have lower infrared emissivity. In recent years, There have been some reports about the Schiff base materials of low infrared emissivity.Domestic and overseas have studied infrared stealth performance of Schiff bases for many years, but they have not researched the relationship between conjugated structure, electrical conductivity and infrared emissivity of Schiff bases. In this paper, I have synthesized 10 sizes of Schiff bases with different structures and composite materials of glyoxal shrinkage para-phenylene diamine Schiff base with carbon nanotubes and aluminum powder. I have used infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet spectrometer, elemental analyzer, scanning electron microscopy and so on to character the products and tested electrical conductivity and infrared emissivity of them. At last, I have analyzed the relationship of structure, conductivity and infrared emissivity and put the view that expand the conjugate structure is an effective way to reduce the infrared emissivity of Schiff base. This article is composed of the following sections:(1) Four small molecules conjugated structure Schiff bases and their iron complexes were synthesized by interaction of benzaldehyde and cinnamaldehyde with para-phenylene diamine and benzidine, respectively. The synthetic products were charactered by infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet spectrometer, elemental analyzer, their electrical conductivity and infrared emissivity have also been measured.(2) Two long chain conjugated structure Schiff bases and their iron complexes were synthesized by glyoxal and benzene 2-formaldehyde with ethylenediamine. The synthetic products were charactered by infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet spectrometer, gel permeation chromatography, their electrical conductivity and infrared emissivity have also been measured.(3) Four long chain conjugated structure Schiff bases and their iron complexes were synthesized by glyoxal and benzene 2-formaldehyde with Para-phenylene diamine and benzidine, respectively. The synthetic products were charactered by infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet spectrometer and so on, their electrical conductivity and infrared emissivity have been measured.(4) Doped Schiff base materials were synthesized by carbon nanotubes, aluminum powder with glyoxal shrinkage para-phenylene diamine Schiff base. The composited materials were charactered by infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet spectrometer, scanning electron microscopy, their electrical conductivity, infrared emissivity and electromagnetic parameters have been measured.(5) The relationships of conjugated structure, electrical conductivity and infrared emissivity have been analyzed, and result shows that expand the conjugate structure is an effective way to reduce the infrared emissivity?Carbon nanotubes doped schiff bases have good absorbing properties, and their infrared emissivity is not higher than pure schiff base.
