Since the ship, automobile, petroleum, aerospace, military and other fields requirements for pipe forming high strength, high forming quality continues to improve, and there are many defects existed in actual machining such as curved section oval cross-section distortion, wall thickness, pipe angle rebound and so on. These defects influence the pipe's strength, installation, and the traffic ability of fluid medium. Moreover, various process parameters are inconsistent with the extent of molding defects. Therefore, the tube forming quality becomes hot in the industry. This paper focuses on the equipment and quality of pipe forming, especially in terms of pipe forming theory, the process parameters and the further research of special software development. Specific work and the results are as follows:(1) According to the demand of cooperative enterprises, pipe automatic forming equipment structure and the overall design of the control system are presented. The design scheme of pipe bending equipment and control is presented in terms of its main structural parameters and performance parameters. The finite element analysis software ABAQUS is used to build push pipe bending simplified model and make its finite element analysis. Study of pipe forming theory, this paper puts forward the tubing bending section of ellipticity, outside wall thinning and theoretical formula of springback angle. Then the pipe bending experiment is built and finally the finite element analyzed data, the theoretical results and the experiment data of push pipe bending are compared and analyzed, which test the reliability of the finite element model and summarizes the cause of the forming defects and measures to avoid or reduce the forming defects. Therefore, the finite element model is proved to be correct and reliable.(2) The finite element analysis software ABAQUS is used to build in ellipticity and wall thinning and bending springback angle as an index of the multi-target orthogonal experiment. The purpose is to study the main factors on the quality of pipe bending, like bending the pipe relative bending radius, hardening coefficient, bending length, coefficient of friction, the speed of bending and the mandrel's depth length. and build the multi-target orthogonal experiment matrix analysis model. After the comprehensive evaluation, the main factors are ordered and grouped according to the absolute value of sensitivity, which provide the theoretical foudation for pipe shaping quality.(3) Based on the actual parameter of pipe bender, the push pipe bending theory of finite element analysis and the specific analysis software for pipe forming process on account of VB language are used to analyze the results of pipe bending and obtain the forming method of optimal combination to design the specific software. The workload of process engineers is further reduced and thereby the work efficiency is improved, which provide certain guidance for practical production.
