As an intermedium between architecture space and the human body, furniture plays an important role in enclosing, separating and connecting interior space, which is one of the key issues of architectural design in the micro level. For a long time, the design and display of furniture has been used to help the spatial concept expressed, therefore reviewing and summarizing these theories and strategies has a positive meaning for architectural space design.First of all, this thesis argues relevant concepts of furniture and architecture collaborative design in the theoretical level, based on which, briefly explains the association between furniture and architecture in the course of historical evolution from classical age to modernism. A variety of trends emerged during the modernist period play an important complementary role fir the further understanding of theoretical concepts. Secondly, the research turns into design and practice level and focuses on case study. One hand, analyze the specific strategies and methods of the participation of furniture in space design by classic cases, such as Villa Savoye and Fransworth House, and explore how the furniture play as a medium between the space and the human body. On the other hand, combined with some outstanding cases, discuss contemporary interpretation of the concept of collaborative design of furniture and architecture. Finally, the thesis draws the basic conclusion and enlightenment, in the theoretical level, sums up a line of the evolution of the collaborative design; in the strategy level, concludes three specific ways of the collaborative design of furniture and architecture. The results of this research reveal a spacial perspective for furniture and architecture collaborative design. The theory and strategy provide important reference and inspiration to the contemporary architectural practice.
