The comprehensive utilization of blast furnace slag caused by domestic and foreign scholars attention, Slag fiber made by blast furnace slag is a reasonable method for comprehensive utilization of blast furnace slag,the slag fiber has the function of heat insulation, heat preservation, noise reduction,etc.It will bring a nice economic efficiency,and a broad market prospects.Study the cooling mechanism of mineral wool fiber by the method of theoretical calculation and numerical simulation.The rapid cooling solidification process of blast furnace slag is that Liquid blast furnace slag are cooling by the function of convection heat transfer and heat radiationThe cooling process of the blast furnace slag is divided into three stages: liquid cooling, liquid- solid two- phase cooling, and solid cooling.First building a physical model, the heat transfer control equation is solved and the three stages cooling time are7.8×10-5s;4.74×10-5s and 7.74×10-5s, and the total time is20.71×10-5s. If the radiation heat transfer is not considered, the time consuming of the three cooling stages is 8.1×10-5s,4.81×10-5s and 7.8×10-5s, and the total time consuming is 20.28×10-5s,The radiant heat transfer accounts for 2.1% of the total heat exchange,so the radiation heat transfer is very small to the whole cooling process.Numerical simulation of blast furnace slag wire cooling process,under the convection heat and thermal radiation effects, the cooling time for solving a single blast furnace slag wire for 3.1x10-5s,cooling air outlet temperature can reach 850 K. Cooling characterIstics of slag fiber:The cooling process from the outside to the inside, from the windward end and leeward end to center. The windward end of fiber has tapered temperature distribution is sharp, and the leeward end tapered temperature distribution round.Through the research on the cooling mechanism of slag fiber, the research results can be a theoretical guide for the production practice.
