The material used in the present investigation was an Al-0.3%Cu alloy, which was casted using 5N Al and an OFHC Cu. The Al-0.3%Cu alloy was cold rolled to different strains followed by annealing at different temperatures until completely recrystallization. The microstructures and textures have been investigated systematically by using optical microscopy, XRD and EBSD techniques. The Al-0.3%Cu alloy cold rolled to 60% and 95% reductions was also isothermal annealing at a 200 ? for serials of time. For the 95% deformed sample, the recrystallization kinetics were studied and the growth rates of recrystallized grains were calculated by the extended Cahn-Hagel equation. The formation of Goss texture was discussed in this paper. The main results are:(1) A strong Goss texture was formed in the Al-0.3%Cu alloy after cold rolling to 60% reduction. The Goss texture rotates to Brass upon further rolling. Thus, a rolling texture with a strong Brass component was development after 98% rolling.(2) Cube and CubeRD texture components were formed in the 60% and 80% rolled sample annealed at 200?. A strong Goss texture was developed in 95% and 98% rolled samples after complete recrystallization at 200? and 300?.(3) During recrystallization of 95% cold rolled Al-0.3%Cu alloy, the number of Other grains per unit volume is larger than for Goss grains, while the growth rate of Goss orientation grains is larger than the Other. The content of Other orientation and Goss orientation are 52% and 41% respectively after completely recrystallization.
