Because carbon fiber reinforced plastics(CFRP) possess high specific strength, specific stiffness, specific modulus, it's widely used in the field of aerospace and automotive. Although it's manufactured using net nearly technology, secondary machining is necessary in the process of assembly. However, the rapid tool wear and many defects such as burrs delamination and resin smearing are unavoidable in conventional machining, due to the anisotropy, heterogeneity and highly abrasive nature of CFRP. Ultrasonic vibration assisted grinding is a new complex processing method, it includes the good surface integrity of ultrasonic vibration assisted grinding and the hith efficiency of conventional grinding, extending the tool life. In view of this, the laminates and the unidirection CFRP side grinding experiments in ultrasonic vibration assisted grinding with abrasive tool are done in this paper and compare with conventional grinding, explaining the phenomenon using the theoretical analysis. Moreover, this paper conducts the experiment investigation of tool wear, providing the basis for follow-up experiments. The main work is summarized as follows:(1) Filtering the base material of brazed diamond abrasive tool, manufacturing the tool template for diamond arrangement. Using ANSYS to analysis the modal and harmonic response between abrasive tool and ultrasonic system, the experiment was conducted to verify the result. Briefly introducing the vacuum brazed process and manufacturing the abrasive tool.(2) Investigating the influence of machining conditions on cutting force and surface integrity in ultrasonic assisted grinding of T700 CFRP laminates and compared with conventional grinding, the influence of the per-tooth federate and the radial cutting depth on cutting force and the surface integrity. T300 unidirectional CFRP ultrasonic assisted grinding experiment is conducted, the impact of amplitude and frequency on the cutting force and the surface integrity are analyzed, the cutting force of different fiber orientation is analyzed.(3) Taguchi design method is employed to prefer the parameter, analzing the tool wear in ultrasonic vibration assisted grinding and conventional grinding and Inveatigats the cutting force, the ratio of cutting force, the amount of cutting force and wear form, providing the basis for follow-up experiments.
