Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), a new kind of materials which are self-assembled by inorganic metal ions or metal clusters with organic ligands under specific condition, not only have fascinating structures but also possess potential applications in lots of fields, such as luminescence sensing, gas adsorption and separation, catalysis. With the gradually in-depth researching, how to design and synthetize functional MOFs have attracted more and more attention. There are many factors can influent the synthesis process of coordination polymers, mastering the effects brought by these factors will help to get the target products. The design and selection of organic ligands is of great concern in the synthesis process, because its structures, symmetry, solubleness, size and coordination modes have direct correlation with the final structures of MOFs. In this article, the organic ligand 3,5-di(2,4-dicarboxylphenyl)pyridine (H4dbpy) has been served as main building block to construct MOFs with different metal ions. Finally, we have successfully synthesized nine novel MOFs using solvothermal method under different temperatures, namely, [Ln(Hdbpy)(H2O)2]·2H2O(Ln= Eu, Tb, Nd, Sm) (1-4), [Pb2(dbpy)]·2DMF·H2O (5), [Mn3(dbpy)2(H2O)2]·2DMF·H2O (6), [Zn3(dbpy)2]·4CH3CN·H2O (7), [Cd2.5(dbpy)(H2O)2.5(OH)]·6H2O (8), [Ba(dbpy)(H2O)]·2.5H2O (9), all these compounds were characterized. There are four chapters in the article:Chapter one offers a brief introduction of the concept, design, synthesis, applications of MOFs and the significance of this article.Chapter two introduces four Ln-MOFs based on 3,5-di(2,4-dicarboxylphenyl)pyridine. Among them, compound 1 has a great selective sensing for metal ion Fe3+ in aqueous solution. And then give the sensing mechanism.Chapter three introduces the synthesis process, structures, properties of three MOFs based on 3,5-di(2,4-dicarboxylphenyl)pyridine.Chapter four introduces the synthesis process, structures, properties of two luminescent MOFs based on 3,5-di(2,4-dicarboxylphenyl)pyridine.Finally, provides a brief summary of this work.
