With the rapid development of commodity detergent industry,the market demand for the measurement of detergent decontamination ability is also expanding.In order to develop new detergent products,the selection of test methods is particularly important.At present,the standard test method and the measurements used frequently in laboratory can quantitatively measure the detergency of detergent products and obtain accurate results,but can't directly exhibit the change of stains on the carrier during washing process.In this paper,single fiber was chose as a model object and then labeled by the specific fluorescein,further the fluorescence images were captured by confocal laser scanning microscope(CLSM)to overcome the shortcomings of the existing methods.Through this method,the removal process of stains on the single fiber can be visualized and the detergent decontamination ability can be evaluated by both of visualized images and quantitative data which were obtained through scientific analysis of these images.This new method was gifted with intuitive observation,process simulation and quantitative analysis.First,the process of detergency measurement based on single fiber with confocal laser scanning microscope was determined: sample preparation(staining-stains labeling)-confocal laser scanning microscopy observing-washing-confocal laser scanning microscopy observing-images analyzing-detergency performance evaluation.And soybean oil was selected as oily stain and labeled by Nile Red fluorescence as well as pure milk was selected as protein stain and labeled by FITC to establish a visual measurement of soil removal effect with confocal laser scanning microscope technology.Then,the feasibility of this new method was studied,including test effect,applicability,repeatability,accuracy and validity.In order to research the test effect and applicability of this method,the evaluation effect on five types of liquids(Tide free;LAS/AEO-9(1:1 wt%);AEO-9;LAS;water)and three types of fibers(cotton;viscose;polyester)were all measured.The results showed that the oil soil removal effect could be well evaluated by images and data.The processof soil removal could be visualized through a series of images which can solve the problem that existing measurements can't.The detergency of Tide Free in single cotton fiber was 52.46% and in single viscose fiber was 51.87% while in polyester was 75.54%,which point out that this new method could be used for kinds of detergents and fibers.In addition,the detergency of Tide Free in single cotton fiber was tested for six times and its standard deviation as well as repeatability index were analyzed,which obtained the results that the standard deviation was controlled in less than value 1 and the repeatability index was controlled in 10%,which demonstrated that the method was gifted with high repeatability and accuracy.Moreover,with compared to another three common methods including reflectance method,brightness method as well as gravity method,the result obtained from this new method showed that the order of detergency was same as another three methods,implying the validity of this new method.Finally,this measurement was further applied in three aspects.Firstly,it was used to measure the detergency of four kinds of surfactants and the order of oil soil removal index was Tide free > LAS/AEO-9(1:1 wt%)> LAS > AEO-9 while the order of protein soil removal index was Tide free > LAS/AEO-9(1:1 wt%)> AEO-9 > LAS.The method could be used to provide basis and direction for detergent formulation research through applying the high sensitivity of this method to distinguish the detergency of different surfactants.Secondly,measurement of oil soil removal effect with confocal laser scanning microscope technique was used to evaluate the detergency of eight kinds of commercial detergents and the results show that the order of oil soil removal index of them was LB > AO > P > U > T > Tide Free > A >X.Thirdly,this method was applied to explore the fabric aging effect on its detergency performance and results show that hydrophilic change of fabric caused by aging and affecting its detergency.Because the fabrics with good hydrophilia,the stains are easier to be washed by solution as well as it has good washing performance.The hydrophilia and detergency of fabrics increased after oxidation bleaching and friction,and the hydrophilia and detergency greatly weakened after fabrics being treated with amino silicone oil as well as squalene.Therefore,this new method is gifted with high practicability which can be widely used in detergency research field andsignificantly promote the development of new detergent as well as the improvement of detergency measurement.
