The forming maintenance technology based on laser cladding technology is designed to use of failure or damage parts as repair workblank,By using laser cladding technology to forming repair failure or damage parts or making performance upgrade for the parts. Repairing or upgrading can satisfy the using requirement or exceed the using requirement.This paper makes systematic research on the 3d model reconstruction which is used in technology of laser cladding forming maintenance. Using the structured light 3d scanner and the 3d model reconstruction software and the Boolean operation completed the model reconstruction of damaged parts and the missing parts. It provides the raw data for forming path planning.This paper makes systematic research on the path planning of the forming maintenance process which is based on laser cladding technology. The object of study is the STL model of the parts damaged part. Using the C# language to write programs for converting STL model to the TXT text which includes all the 3d information of the parts. Using TXT file which contains all the 3d location information of the parts serves as the raw data. By using the grouping method which is based on the location information of triangles processing part model hierarchically. It can reduce the judgment of the location relationship between the triangles and the tangent plane. It means improving the efficiency of the layering and reducing the time of actual parts repair. This paper proposed grouping bubble sort algorithm.Using the algorithm dealt with the intersection points between tangent plane and triangles. This algorithm can sorting process these point and make them to an orderly section contour line. This paper proposed grouping method which is based on the location information of plotline. Using this method populated the stratification results of parts model. It can reduce the judgment of the location relationship between the profile and the scan lines. It means improving the efficiency of the layering and indirectly reducing the time of actual parts repair.This paper presents a complete method from the damaged parts to the laser path planning. This method contains establishing the library of the original parts model,the reconstruction of damaged parts 3d model, the reconstruction of missing parts model, the secondary read and stored of the STL model, the stratified slice of the STL model and the contour filling of the cross section. by using the steps above,it can obtain the laser cladding path.
