The conductive polyaniline(PANI),which can promote the catalytic activity of some metal ions, has received widespread attentions.Fenton-like system has been widely applied in organic pollutant treatment as an advanced oxidation technique.Attapulgite(ATTP),as an environmental friendly mineral with good stability is appropriate to act as a support for catalyst. In this thesis, based on Fe(III)saturated attapulgite, the Fe-ATTP-PANI was synthesized using a new chemical vapor deposition method and characterized by X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,FTIR,Raman spectroscopy etc.The results showed the attapulgite structure remains stable and confirmed the formation of polyaniline. The computational methods were also applied to investigate the polymerization process of polyaniline in the structure of attapulgite. The experimental results for the degradation of atrazine showed that the Fe-ATTP-PANI composite exhibited superior reactivity as indicated by efficient dissipation of atrazine in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, and the degradation rate increased up to almost 150 times compared to Fe(III)saturated ATTP.The higher reactivity is attributed to the accelerated electron transfer of conductive PANI,the formation of ferrous ions reduced by aniline, and the enhanced adsorption of atrazine onto ATTP.Furthermore, the experimental results demonstrated that Fe(III)-ATTP-ANI350 could be separated by static settlement and reused for at least six cycles with less than 1.5%of total iron released from ATTP under acidic conditions, which could lower the secondary pollution and overall cost for environmental applications.
