In this study,a kind of hot melt adhesive which has good adhesion for metal and ABS plastic was prepared,and its properties were investigated.A new copolyamide(PA)with good adhesion to metal aluminum(Al)sheets was synthesized from caprolactam,nylon 66 salt,nylon 1010 salt and stearic acid.The thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)which had good adhesion for ABS plastic was chosen.A series of PA/TPU binary blends were prepared and the results showed that PA and TPU had poor compatibility.A series of PA/TPU blends compatibilized by maleic anhydride grafted ethylene vinyl acetate(EVA-g-MAH)or epoxidized polyethylene wax(EPEW)were prepared.The effects of compatibilizer content on the melt viscosity,morphology,mechanical and thermal properties of ternary blends were systematically investigated.The PA/TPU/EVA-g-MAH and PA/TPU/EPEW blends with the weight ratio of 50/50/6 and 55/45/6 respectively exhibited excellent mechanical properties and optimal miscibility behavior.And their peeling strengths reached the maximum,which could be used as the matrix of hot melt adhesives(HMAs).The above ternary blends samples mixed with different antioxidants to prepare HMAs,and they have high adhesion for metal and ABS plastic.
