It's been a long time that more and more people are suffering from different kinds of dental diseases,especially the dental decay which can cause teeth defect.As a result,dental restorative materials have gained more and more attention in recent years.Among these materials,visible light curing dental composite resins can make a solid bond between the resins and human teeth,and because of this the composite resins are wildly used in clinical medicine.However,many composite resins have weaknesses in persistence,mechanical strength,contraction stress,bio-compatibility and other aspects owing to the specificity and complexity of the oral cavity environment.So creating new dental composite resin with low polymerization volume shrinkage(VS),great mechanical properties and being non-toxic is very meaningful.So in this research we aim to synthesize a new kind of visible light curing composite resin which contains biphenyl structure,and expecting the resin can have good properties in many aspects.The research work of this paper can be divided into several parts.Firstly,we use two-step method to synthesize 3,3?,5,5?-tetramethyl biphenyl-4,4?-diol epoxy resin(TMBP).And then we use TMBP to react with methacrylic acid to synthesize a new kind of epoxy methyl acrylate(TMBP-EMA)which contains biphenyl structure.The structure of TMBP and TMBP-EMA are characterized with FT-IR and 1H-NMR.Secondly,using TMBP-EMA we just synthesized as matrix resin,mixing it with certain proportion of diluent,photoinitiator,and auxiliary photoinitiator to form a new kind of dental light-curing composite resin.In addition,we add TMBP-EMA matrix resin to Bis-GMA composite resin according to certain mass ratio of total matrix resin(20%,40%,60%),making three different groups of blend systems.We use Bis-GMA composite resin as the control group.Thirdly,we do the visible light curing reaction to the composite resins.After that,we mainly test the double bond convention,volume shrinkage,water absorption and water solution,mechanical properties,and biocompatibility of different groups of composite resins.All the property tests are according to dental testing standardISO4909.By comparing the test results of the different groups of composite resins we can know that TMBP-EMA has better properties comparing to Bis-EMA.And as the TMBP-EMA&Bis-GMA blend systems,although each system has different proportion of TMBP-EMA,the properties are greater than Bis-GMA composite resins and reserving the good properties of Bis-GMA.Above all,we can say that the TMBP-EMA resin has some application prospect as a new dental composite dental resin.
