Antibacterial plastics have been widely applied in many fields such as large-scale wiring,communication equipment and automotive.Because abio-antimicrobial modified by nanotechnology has nano-scale,the contact between abio-antimicrobial and bacteria is greatly increased.The abio-antimicrobial can penetrate cell membrane and damage the cell's synthetase activity,resulting in the loss of proliferation capacity and death. The modified abio-antimicrobial shows excellent antibacterial effect.So, researching on antibacterial plastics has important significance in the fields of the ehvironment purification and health improvement. Polyethylene(PE) has already been widely applied in Civilian and industry. However it is valuable to increase the functions and enhance the performances of PE matrix.The antibacterial polyethylene is research focus of PE functional composites.In this work,a novel kind of antibacterial and anion-released polyethylene Composite was prepared by using Eli and N-oxide-2-mercaptopyridine zinc salt(ZPT) as antibacterial and anion-releasing agents.Then surface modification technique with coupling agents was adopted to tailor the surface properties of Eli.The effects of reaction conditions such as reaction temperature,reaction time and the content of silicone coupling agent on the surface modification of Eli were studied.Furthermore,the crystallization behavior,antibacterial property and sustaining antibacterial property of the composites were investigated in detail.Thesurface property of Eli modified by silane coupling agent KH560 was changed from hydrophilic to hydrophobic.FTIR reSults showed that the KH560 was combined on the Eli surface in the form of Chemical bond.The effects of the antibacterial powders content and modification were studied by melt blending of LDPE,including the melt flow viscosity,the crystallization and mechanical properties.The results showed that when the content of the antibacterial powders was increasing,the tensile strength of LDPE changed a little,The non-newton indexes of LDPE antibacterial. plastics were smaller than 1.0,and all the flowability of the antibacterial plastics fit the law of pseudoplastic fluid.The blending melt viscosity was decreased by increasing of shear rate and the processing property of the antibacterial plastics was improved.The addition of Eli into LDPE could increase the crystallization rate of LDPE.The LDPE/Eli antibacterial plastics contained with 2phr Eli could release 790 ions/cc,which was equivalent to the amount of anion in nature. The antibacterial rate could reach 45%. For the LDPE/Eli/ZPT antibacterial plastics containing 0.15phr ZPT, the antibacterial rate were 98.21%(for E.coli),and 96.15%(for S.aureus), the sustaining bactericidal rate were 82.14%(for E.coli) and 81.25%(for S.aureus) endured water wash of 30 days.
