Study On Production Process Of High Strength Galvanized Steel Wire For Marine Steel Wire Rope

High tensile galvanize steel wire is the essential condition for marine rope production. With the development of ocean engineering, the market of marine rope enlarged rapidly. But the imported marine rope is dominating Chinese market. To capture the market share and achieve marine rope localization, it is an urgent task for developing high-performance marine rope with the domestic high-strength steel and independent rope technology. In this research we focus on optimum production process scheme during high tensile galvanize steel wire manufacture process, and we also statistics and analysis the property of the wires. In addition, influence of three different chemical composition wire rod, patenting DV values, number of multi-pass drawing and galvanize DV values are studied utilizing orthogonal test. Then the tensile stress, torsion, bend and the weight of zinc layer are measured for different wire types, which production process are designed by previous orthogonal test. In addition, the perfect production process scheme is selected for the manufacture of high tensile galvanize steel wires, and provide a frame of reference for marine rope production. Finally, we may conclude as follows:(1) The perfect production process scheme for high tensile galvanize steel wire is used i.e., SWRH82 B wire rod, patenting value set as 80, number of multi-pass drawing set as 12 times and galvanize value set as 160. The tensile strength for the wire is over 1870 MPa, and the value of torsion, bend and coated weight are reach to the requirement of national standard No. 8919-2006.(2) 36 different sizes high tensile galvanize steel wire are produced via four sizes combination with nine schemes. The mechanical performance test results show that all steel wires are acceptable product, and the tensile strength are above the 1870 MPa, the value of torsion, bend and coated weight are reach to the requirement of national standard No. 8919-2006.(3) According to the production process scheme and corresponding microstructure, we also research the wires mechanical performance difference, the result are show below. Firstly, the bad effect of few Cr and V elements in raw rod can be neglect. Secondly, the rate of sorbitizing is influence by patenting value. Thirdly, the microstructure deformation heat in different production process schemes have different effect to mechanical performance. Lastly, the process of hot galvanize will decrease the value of tensile strength, torsion, bend, and coated weight, coating compactness are influence by DV value.(4) The breaking force, split wire properties, wire zinc coating weight for marine rope are over the standard requirement 1870 MPa, which is entwisted by high tensile galvanize steel wires with perfect optimally process.
