High-precision bearings play an essential component among high-precision machines,while one of the core components of bearings is high-precision ball.The higher-quality of high-performance bearing is demanded increasingly around the market environment.Therefore it is very urgent to take further study on processing high-precision ball.The process tracks over the ball surface are concentric circle because the spin angle is always a constant value with traditional V-groove method.While Spin-angle self-control method colud have changeable spin angle,but both the instrument and the control system become more complex,the number of ball in a process is lesser synchronously.Consequently,this paper proposes a novel way to process high-precision balls by spiral groove lapping plate aming at solving the defects of above two methods.In this paper,there are following aspects to display research results:1.The spin angle,spin velocity and the lapping tracks equations could achieve by analyzing the ball movement rule.Under the above theory,lapping tracks of each method are compared.Author also sets up an experiment machine for finial process experiments.2.PROE-ADMAS-MATLAB united-simulation is adopted so that the track uniformity can be described and compared under different parameters.Then a track uniformity theory is taken out at the same time.The simulantion shows some important paremetres that could impact track uniformity deeply.including speed of lapping plate,load and types of groove.3.A series of dynamic calculations about rolling friction and spin friction between ball and lapping plates are given out,and single&multi-balls dynamic system is build.The conclusion is that ball has a critical speed of roration and smaller load has more perfect performence on size selectivity.Then abrasive wear experiments are undertaked,which is proposed to show the general effects of load when ball is processed.4.Finally,author carries out a plenty of process experiments which consider the quality of surface and roundness as criterion aiming at exploring process technology.The results display that the final accuration could reach 0.095?m in roundness,0.011?m in surface roughness and 0.17?m in consistency,which illustrates this method absolutely has got G5 grade balls.Then the comparation experiment between traditional method and the novel method under same process paremeters explans the novel method has an advantage of high-effciency and high-consistency.Generally speaking,spiral groove lapping plate could achieve variable and controllable spin angle and process balls effciently and consistently.But it also has a litimation that the controllable scale of spin angle is very small.So it will be wonderful if the litimation is solved in the further study.
