Non-circular cross-section parts have been widely used in in the aviation,aerospace,automotive,textile and many other industrial fields.In order to process non-circular crosssection parts,a complex drive mechanism is used to drive the tool in the traditional turning platform.The transmission error is pretty large,and the frequency response of this kind of system is slow,it is difficult to get a higher processing accuracy.Based on the analysis of non-circular cross-section part surface processing requirements,a non-circular turning control system based on TwinCAT environment was designed in this paper.The EtherCAT bus control mode was adopted.TwinCAT's real-time,compatibility and integration with simulation software features improved the non-circular turning control performance.A control software which consist of mold generation module,data read and write module,state detection module and HMI module was developed.In this paper,a non-circular turning platform is developed,and a fast servo turret driven by a voice coil linear motor is designed.The voice coil linear motor which can achieve high speed,high precision and provide linear motion can improve the reciprocating speed of the feed unit.The fast servo turret uses the position and current closed loop feedback control structure.Position and current filter were adopted to decrease the noise of position and current signal.Based on the non-circular turning platform,the control of each axis was simulated.Single axis turning and 5-axis linkage control experiments of the five-axis system consisting of four permanent magnet synchronous motors and one voice coil linear motor was carried out.The non-circular turning experiment was carried out by setting different interpolation steps.The experiment proves the validity and feasibility of the non-circular turning control system.
