This work analyses the long-term trend of the daily global horizontal irradiation(GHI) and the diffuse horizontal irradiation(DHI) of four cities in China: Harbin, Beijing, Wuhan and Guangzhou, located from North to South. From 1990 to 2013, the yearly GHI increases for most of the sites(0.1 to 0.7 %/year) except for Harbin for which it decreases(-0.4 %/year) while the yearly DHI increases for all sites(0.2 to 0.9 %/year). The reasons for such an evolution have been studied through the local analysis o f both the aerosol optical depth at 550 nm(AOD550) and the cloud cover.GHI in 22 cities, located from North to South C hina, has been analyzed to support engineering applications by using Solar GIS and Meteonrom. After the validation of SolarGIS, the local calibration has been applied to modify the SolarGIS data. Then the result of solar resource assessment has been used for the analysis of solar hydrogen production- liquefaction-delivery system. The solar hydrogen production system consists of three parts, thermal system with heliostats, Cu-C l circulation for hydrogen production, and organic rankine cycle with R123. The hydrogen production and the efficiency of the system have been analyzed with t hermodynamic model. Among the 22 cities, Miyi and K unming is more suitable to develop the solar hydrogen production system. After the hydrogen production, the liquefaction and delivery system have been studied by thermodynamic methods. Hydrogen liquefaction of helium refrigeration cycle has been chosen after comparison. For the delivery part, it has been completed for the numerical simulation of the thermodynamic parameters of liquid hydrogen which is under stagnation state in conveying pipeline.
