Desulfurization in the molton iron is an important way to reduce the sulfur content in the modern iron and steel making process of producing high quality steel,and KR stirring is widely used in hot-metal pretreatment process.Nowadys, the research regarding KR stirring is mainly on industrial tests and model tests,and there is little research on numerical simulation.As for the numerical simulation aspect,the research takes little free-surface account into consideration,and there is even less research on desulfurization particle tracking.Therefore, bsed on Fluent software, slip mesh technology and VOF(Volume of Fluid) and DPM(Discrete Phase Model) models are adopted to simulate the flow field and particles movement in the stirring bath in this paper,it also explore structure and process parameters' influence on KR strring process. The study will help to improve the efficiency of hot-metal pretreatment.This paper first discusses turbulence model, the number of grid, and the convergence step length's effect on calculation result, choose suitable ones for the research in this paper. And water model test result is compared with numerical result to prove the feasibility of the numerical simulation method. The simulation results show: There is a upwelling-falling phenomenon happened in the middle of free surface at the beginning period of mixing; The velocity of flow is transmitted from stirring head to outside field in horizontal direction and produces upper and lower eddies when it is affect by the wall. And then different structure and process parameters are studied on concerning their influences on flow field and desulfurizer particles track, it is concluded that regular 3 leaf is better than conventional four leaf blade and gradient blade is better than conventional blade in mixing effect;Improve the hot metal mixing speed do good to KR mixing effect, 130 r/min is a comparatively deal speed; Under a certain speed, stirring paddle sink depth increase, the mixing effect decreases,but if sink depth is too small, it will play a negative role. The numerical simulation in this paper is of much benefit to the optimization of stirrer structural design and working parameters.
