Today,how to improve the service life of cast roll lines is one of the most important topics for many metal industrial companies and cast roll machinery development companies.To increase the service life,improvement is mainly considered on structure of roll line,material of rollers,application of cast bearings,lubrication and sealing system,and etc.Among these methods,the change of roll line structure requests comprehensive utilization of all different technologies,having the most revolutionary effect on the increase of service life of cast roll lines.The No.3 CCM(Continuous Cast Machine)of Baosteel has been facing many problems since it was put into production,such as low service life and roller failure.In order to solve these problems,research and development for new structure based on ringy gap was conducted,taking typical roll line with diameter of 230 mm as case sample.It included analysis on characters and cooling efficiency of different structure of roll lines,development on new ringy gap,research on parameter optimization,selection of suitable split CARB bearing for driven roll and air-oil lubrication system,and determination of the new manufacture technology.The research process was consist of FEA for different structure,simulation of the temperature field and stress field of roll lines in different structures and applications,and optimization according to analysis outcome.A test roll line was then put into online test.Through measurement on cooling water and offline inspection,it has been confirmed that the new ringy gap structure of roll line has its advantage on structure strength,cooling efficiency and anti-thermal fatigue.In conclusion,the research and test showed the effectiveness of the new ringy gap structure of casting roller on improving its service life.The research process and test results also provided value as reference for further design,manufacture and application of continuous cast roll lines.
