Porous calcium silicate is a new type of silicate product prepared in pro-desilication soda-lime sintering method used fly ash by Da Tang international corporation.In this paper,we studied its application in modification of polypropylene and supported an effective way for high value added utilization of fly ash,not only solved the problem of environment,but also produced economic benefits,which had important practical significance.We used the XRD,SEM,FT-IR,TG,DSC and other methods for characterizing the microstructure of porous calcium silicate,and discussed the effective of the mechanical processing to the size distribution,microstructure and water content of calcium silicate.Furthermore,we used surface activation porous calcium silicate and talcum powder filled PP,compared their effect on the properties of polypropylene/filler composites,provided technical support in modification of polypropylene by porous calcium silicate.Finally,we applied porous calcium silicate in the automobile PP materials and had studied the modified polypropylene material for interior and exterior decoration material according to vehicle firm AG.A series of studies indicate that:(1)Porous calcium silicate mainly consists of tobermorite,the chemical formula is Ca O·Si O2·n H2 O.It also contains a little of Si O2?Ca CO3?Ca(OH)2.Surface of porous calcium silicate is alveolate,its special surface area is 119 m2/g,and average pore size is 16.32 nm.(2)Diameter distribution of porous calcium is disperse and average diameter is large,which is a disadvantage to modified in using.However,when the raw material modified by pulverizer at 40 HZ condition,the size distribution of spheres is concentration and D97 is 9.90?m.What's more,the spheres keeps its own morphology features.(3)Influence of porous calcium is better than talcum powder in distortion temperature and mechanical property of polypropylene.When the mass fraction is 20%,distortion temperature increase by 23.8?,tensile strength increases by 9.7%,bending strength increases by 44.2%,flexural modulus increases by 83.7%,and impact strength didn't changed obviously when PP is filled.When the filled materiel mass of them are equal the density of pp filled with porous calcium silicate is lower than that talc.(4)Through experimental screening,a modified PP according with the technical standard of vehicle firm was developed with a mixture of activated porous calcium silicate talcum powder,PPL5E89,PP300 H,PPK7726H,HDPE,6084 A and POEDF610,which confirmed the feasibility of the application of porous calcium silicate in the field of automotive modified plastics.
