In order to solve the problems such as sticking rubber,mold corrosion,carbon deposition,poor wear resistance and difficult cleaning of the tire mould,Teflon coating is usually sprayed on the surface of tire mold.However,the hardness of Teflon coating is low,the wear resistance is poor,it need to be repeated spraying.DLC coating as a new functional coating material,it has high hardness,high elastic modulus,abrasion resistance,high bonding strength and other advantages,it has the potential to be applied on the surface of the tire mold.Therefore,studying the DLC coating takes the place of Teflon coating on tire mold,solving the problem of low hardness and poor wear resistance of Teflon coating,which has great realistic significance.In order to explore the application feasibility of DLC coating on tire mold,the paper mainly study the following aspects:(1)The specimens were prepared and processed,hydrogen containing DLC,hydrogen free DLC and Teflon coatings were deposited on the specimens.According to tire mold technological processes prepared 35# steel matrix specimen,Teflon coating is completely sprayed in accordance with the process of tire mold coating,Hydrogen containing DLC and hydrogen free DLC coatings were deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition and arc ion plating.(2)The characterization of three kinds of coatings,such as the structure,composition and surface morphology,were analyzed and compared.Three coatings have different roughness,cross section structure and element composition,different components and structures have different effects on the surface properties of the coatings.Therefore,the structure and composition of the three coatings were characterized,to provide theoretical basis for improving surface properties of the coatings.The experimental results show that the roughness of two kinds of DLC coating is less than that of Teflon coating,three kinds of coatings have uniformly dense internal structure,there is no obvious deposition crack.(3)The surface properties of three kings of coatings were measured and compared.In paper,the main properties of three kinds of coatings,such as the hydrophobicity,nano hardness,elastic modulus and bonding strength,were quantitatively analyzed.The strengths and weaknesses of the three kinds of coatings were compared.The experimental results show that when the DLC coating' roughness is smaller,the hydrophobicity was lower than that of Teflon coating.However,with the increase of roughness,the hydrophobicity of the coating increased gradually.When the roughness of DLC coating is 754 nm,the water contact angle of coating achieves 96o.The nano hardness and bonding strength of two kinds of DLC coatings were much higher than that of Teflon coating.Through the comparative study of the structure,composition,surface morphology and main surface properties of the DLC and Teflon coatings,it can be concluded that: The hydrophobicity,nano hardness and bonding strength of DLC coating can meet the application requirements of tire mold,it can be applied on the tire mold.
