The degree of corrosion of crude oil pipelines has been increasing with the increase in pipeline life.At present, the existing pipeline inspection technology in China has no uniform standard and method for the evaluation of corrosion defects of different types of pipelines, which brings some uncertainty to the maintenance, integrity management of crude oil pipeline, and increases the operation of pipeline cost.In this paper, the characteristics of corrosion defects of Qinghai oil pipeline analyzed by using statistical methods. From the location, width, length and depth of corrosion defects, the general corrosion characteristics and basic distribution of Qinghai oil pipeline are summarized. In order to further reduce the limitation of the current evaluation methods, this paper focuses on the basic strength of the corroded crude oil pipeline based on the finite element analysis method, based on the summary analysis and refinement of relevant academic research at home and abroad.Assessment, resulting in more consistent with the crude oil storage and transportation engineering requirements of the overall assessment results. The results of finite element analysis are compared with those of domestic crude oil industry, and the comparative advantages of finite element method are preliminarily displayed.Which further supports the scientific and validity of the finite element analysis method in the residual strength analysis of crude oil pipeline.
