With the rapid development of social economy,energy crisis and environmental pollution are two major problems to be solved.The use of clean and renewable solar energy is the way to solve the problem.Dye sensitized solar cell is a device that converts light energy into electric energy by photoelectric effect.It is urgent to develop high efficiency dye-sensitized solar cells.The dye sensitizer plays an important role in the absorption of solar light and the excited state electron injection into the conduction band of the semiconductor in DSSCs.Therefore,the key to improve the efficiency of the battery is the development of dye sensitizer.Three novel pure organic dyes with different rhodanine acceptors are designed and synthesized.The photophysical and electrochemical properties of these dyes and their application in DSSCs are evaluated.This paper mainly includes the following aspects:Chapter 1 The development of dye-sensitized solar cells,the structure and working principle of DSSCs,the evaluation of performance parameters and the classification,characteristics and recent development of dye sensitizer are described.With indoline as the donor and new rhodanine unit as the acceptor,three novel D-D-?-A dyes are designed.Chapter 2 The synthesis of three rhodanine receptors,as well as three novel indoline dyes is described in detail.All intermediates and target compounds are characterized by 1H NMR,13C NMR and MS spectra.Chapter 3 The photophysical and electrochemical properties of three dyes are measured both in solvent and on TiO2 electrode.All three dyes are applied in DSSCs and their performance are compared and discussed.Meanwhile,the optimized molecular structures,energy levels of the dyes are also simulated by Gaussian 03 program for theoretical research.Chapter 4 Conclusions...
