Global warming is a common environmental problem that affects the whole world, and constitutes a serious challenges to the living environment of human being. The emission of carbon dioxide is the primary cause that produce vast quantities greenhouse gas emissions,so reducing global carbon dioxide emissions is a fundamental way to solve the climate problem. With the acceleration of urbanization and industrialization,China has become the largest emitter of carbon dioxide emissions and overtaken the United States since 2007.And fossil energy consumption as the main source of carbon dioxide not only affects the quality of our environment, but cause greater pressure to China's energy supply. Therefore,it is of great significance to analyze the various factors that affect the carbon emissions, and illustrate the functions and effects of various factors.Because these ways have positive impacts on China's energy-saving emission reduction and sustainable economic development in the future. This dissertation calculates the quantity of carbon dioxide emissions of 30provinces(except Tibet)in China from 1997 to 2014 based on the energy statistical yearbook of China. On the basis of theoretical analysis, the influenced factors of carbon emission in China are divided into six factors which are economic growth, the urbanization level, the opening-up level, technical progress, the local government behaviors and the energy structures. Then the dissertation puts forward the related theoretical assumptions and uses structural equation model to find out the key factors of effects and analyze mediation in whole China which involves the whole nation, eastern area, central area and western area.Compared with the exploratory factor analysis, the structural equation model pays more attention to the inner link amongst the variables. And then, the research finds out that three factors which involve promoting economicgrowth level, the increasing ratio of using clean energy and the ascensive technology would reduce the carbon emission intensity. However, the urbanization level, the opening-up level and the local government behaviors would increase the carbon emission intensity. As far as total effect, the economic growth level and technical level have most important impacts, and the absolute values amongst the economic level,opening-up level and energy structure are almost similar, and the opening–up level generate carbon emissions mainly through urbanization level, and the total effect of local government behavior is minimum. When the per capita carbon emission regarded as indexes, the each expected hypothesis is supported by the data.So economic growth level, the opening-up level, urbanization level and the technology progress have most important impacts.Further,as far as regional differences analysis, the influences of various factors on the carbon emission intensity are different in different regions where they are the eastern region, the western region and the centralregion of China. The urbanization level is the main factor to generate carbon emission in the eastern region of China. The effect of all factors are quite similar,so the carbon emission is the comprehensive effect that caused by various factors. However,in the central region, the urbanization level and the local government behavior have the maximum impacts. And the local government behaviors is the mainfactor to generate CO2 emission in the western region.
