Surface finishing technology as a finally processing of machining has an extremely important impact on improving the quality and performance even on extending the Machine's life.The complexity of the motion of the abrasive particles in the centrifugal barrel finishing results in difficulties in determining the processing parameters,greatly limiting its application in the high-end market.With the rapid development of equipment industry,it has obtained some higher requirements.The finishing process is studied,combined the macroscopic movement of barrel with three-dimensional discrete element software EDEM to researching the interaction between abrasive and work-pieces and the process of abrasive movement in this thesis.The relative motion process and the collision process of mixed medium which belong to a horizontal centrifugal barrel equipment have been researched by the means coupling the analysis macro movement with the micro simulation analysis.On the one hand,the theoretically calculation method is used to analyze the movement and distribution of medium in centrifugal barrel equipment,to researched the laws between the process parameters and the structural parameters,and to calculation the relationship between the processing efficiency,quality and the micro impact energy;on the other hand,by coupling two computational models for calculating critical transmission ratios which is deduced through previous with 3D DEM modeling to research the micro characteristic of media's movement.and to explore the transmission ratio impact on forced flow layer in centrifugal barrel.At the same time,two important structural parameters,rotation angle and cross-sectional shape of the centrifugal barrel equipment are simulated by EDEM.To study and compare the number of collisions,impact energy and impact force combining with the discrete element theory and energy model.It can be indicated that When the transmission ratio is within the two critical points of 0.6 and 1.4 the particles can obtain more collisions,but when it is ithout the range,the forced flow layer is inconspicuous and the effectiveness is lower,so we can conclude that the second way is more suitable.When we contrast the movement of medium in the different rotation angles,we can receive a highest relative collision speed which is between abrasive and work-pieces in barrel at the rotation angles is 10°,but the relative collision speed,impact energy and contact force are smaller,which is average and suitable to fine grinding.We can obtain the biggest relative collision speed and contact force,but not average,in the regular octagonal roller by analyzing the simulation of centrifugal barrel with different sectional shape,however,when it is regular hexagon,even relative collision speed and contact force is of the second,but average,the sectional shape coincides with the actual production.
