Wear is one of the main reasons for the failure of mechanical parts,resulting in large consumption of materials and energy annually.In order to reduce economic losses,saving resources and energy to a certain extent,we need to understand the wear forms and wear mechanism of materials,and use friction and anti-wear technology to reduce the wear of material.There are several ways to reduce the wear of material,including enhancing the wear resistance of the material itself and adding lubricant and the treatment of material surface.The introduction of coatings on the surface of the material will greatly reduce the wear of materials.Among the coatings,polymer coatings with properties such as high temperature,impact resistance,chemical stability,good insulation and wear resistance,have attracted more and more research interest due to the elimination of the corrosion wear of the materials.Biphenyl polyether sulfone(PPSU)is a special engineering plastic with comprehensive performance,such as high chemical stability,excellent resistance to hydrolysis,strong impact resistance,high heat distortion temperature and electrical insulation.A PPSU film with good performance and appearance can be formed on the metal by spraying of the PPSU solution.Compared to PPSU,polyether ether ketone(PEEK)possesses better wear resistance and chemical stability,which can reduce the wear of materials.Moreover,polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)is recognized as a solid lubricant,with very low friction coefficient,which can reduce the friction coefficient of materials.In addition,SiC is a common inorganic filler,which can enhance the hardness and wear resistance of the material and reduce the wear of the material.So PEEK,PTFE and SiC can be used as fillers in PPSU coating to improve the wear resistance of coating.In this paper,PEEK,PTFE and SiC were added into PPSU coating as fillers.The effects of the contents of PEEK and PTFE on the hardness,adhesion,impact resistance,liquid media resistance and wear resistance were studied.Furthermore,the effects of the introduction of SiC on the hardness,adhesion,impact resistance,resistance to liquid media and the wear resistance under different pressures were investigated.The wear mechanisms were discussed with the worn surfaces which were examined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The experimental results showed that the content of PEEK had no obvious impact on the friction coefficient,but low content of PEEK had distinct impact on the wear of the coatings at 10 N.The main friction mechanisms were adhesive wear and abrasive wear.However,in high content PEEK coatings,the friction mechanism also contained fatigue wear.When PPSU:PEEK =10:4,the wear resistance of the composite coating was best.Moreover,the addition of PTFE can significantly reduce the friction coefficient and wear of composite coating at 10 N.The friction mechanisms were adhesive wear and abrasive wear in low content PTFE coatings,while the friction mechanisms were adhesive wear and fatigue wear in high content PTFE coatings.When PPSU:PTFE=10:4,the wear resistance of the composite coating was best.The introduction of PTFE can evidently reduce the friction coefficient and wear of PPSU/PEEK composite coatings at 10 N.The main friction mechanism was adhesive wear.The introduction of PEEK can reduce the wear of PPSU/PTFE composite coatings at 10 N.The main friction mechanism were adhesive wear and abrasive wear.When the PPSU:PEEK:PTFE =10:4:(3-5)and PPSU:PTFE:PEEK =10:4:(2-6),the wear resistance of the composite coatings were better.The addition of SiC increased the friction coefficient and decreased the wear of the composite coatings.The main friction mechanism was adhesive wear at 10 N and 20 N,but the friction mechanism also contained adhesive wear and fatigue wear at 30 N.Considering the comprehensive performances of all composite coatings,UKE-SiC possessed the formula with best overall performance,including excellent wear resistance.
